This plaque was based on a portrait created by Nicholas Sokolov, chief artist-engraver of the USSR Mint in Leningrad as a design for the one rouble coin. Lenin appears in his most recognizable form with his bald head, hollow cheeks, piercing gaze, furrowed eyebrows, trimmed moustache and shapely goatee. To reward Nicholas Sokolov for his achievements, the President of the USSR decorated him with the highest Soviet award - the Order of Lenin.
