Edge reads ‘Juror Exhibition 1851, Sir Baldwin Walker’. Admiral Sir Baldwin Wake Walker, 1st Baronet, KCB, CMG, was surveyor of the Royal Navy from 1848-1861 and oversaw the construction programme of the Navy during the 1850’s arms race. It was under his tenure that the Royal Navy moved to the ironclad warship and Baldwin himself was responsible for the commissioning of HMS Warrior.
