1789 FRANCE National Assembly 64mm bronze medal BDM I, 211 EF

Obv: Bust of Louis XVI facing right, LOUIS XVI RESTAURATEUR DE LA LIBERTÉ FRANÇAISE (‘King Louis XVI the Restorer of French Liberty’).

Rev: The hall of the National Assembly at Versailles. In the middle is an altar with this inscription, "TO THE COUNTRY". The deputies from all three levels swear the oath to abandon all privileges, their "priviliges and feudal rights" are thrown at the foot of the altar.
